Building the Future of Public Safety
The Nexus Public Safety Center is a proposed state-of-the-art facility that brings together a new Stevens Point Fire Station, a satellite Stevens Point Police Department, and a Mid-State Technical College training center in one collaborative hub–right here.
Designed to strengthen public safety education, training, and collaboration across our region, Nexus will prepare the next generation of first responders while supporting the ongoing professional development of those already serving our communities.
What is Nexus Public Safety Center?
Unlike traditional training facilities, Nexus will offer technology-enhanced classrooms, simulation environments, and collaborative learning spaces for multi-agency collaboration that reflect the real-world challenges faced by today’s first responders.
Nexus will serve:
- Fire departments
- Law enforcement agencies
- Emergency response organizations
- Public safety students
- Community partners throughout central Wisconsin
Training together. Serving together. Stronger together.
Why Nexus Matters
The Need is Real–and Growing
Communities throughout central Wisconsin face growing challenges:
- Workforce shortages in public safety professions
- Limited access to specialized training facilities
- Increasing demand for collaborative emergency response
Nexus addresses these needs by creating a centralized training hub that expands access, improves readiness, and strengthens partnerships throughout the region.
We’re facing a gap–and an opportunity to close it.
A Regional Partnership
Nexus represents a shared vision among public safety agencies, educational institutions, government partners, and community leaders. These partnerships will help ensure that communities throughout central Wisconsin have access to highly trained, highly prepared emergency personnel.
