At Mid-State Technical College, School of Business & Information Technology students do more than learn concepts in the classroom. They apply their skills in real-world competitions that prepare them for professional success.
Through Business Professionals of America (BPA), students compete in areas such as finance, marketing, digital communication, management information systems, and health administration. These events mirror real workplace challenges and help students strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and professionalism.
Students participate in district, state, and national competitions where they put their skills to the test against peers from across the country. Mid-State students consistently earn top honors at the state level and regularly qualify for the BPA National Leadership Conference.
At the national level, students continue to stand out with strong performances in events focused on ethics, human resources, interview skills, and healthcare administration. These accomplishments reflect the depth of hands-on training students receive at Mid-State.
“This is where students take what they have learned and apply it in real-world situations,” shared BPA advisor Sharon Behrens. “They compete with confidence, professionalism, and strong leadership skills.”
Beyond competition, BPA helps students grow as leaders through networking, teamwork, and community service opportunities. Students build career-ready skills while connecting with peers and professionals who share their interests and goals.
Through hands-on learning, leadership development, and national competition experiences, Mid-State prepares business and IT graduates to succeed in today’s fast-changing workforce.
