Each year, Mid-State Technical College’s Farm Tour brings agriculture to life by connecting students, educators, and industry partners through hands-on learning experiences. The event highlights agriculture programs and career pathways available through Mid-State.
The tour gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at modern agricultural operations, including innovative practices, emerging technology, and research-driven solutions shaping today’s industry. Stops often include partners like the UW Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, where students see how science and data guide real-world decisions in agriculture careers.
For many students, the Farm Tour is more than a day of exploration. It is a turning point. By visiting working farms and connecting with industry professionals, students gain a clearer understanding of agriculture careers and the skills needed to succeed in this high-demand field.
The experience is part of a larger effort by Mid-State to build strong connections across the agricultural community. Through events like the Farm Tour, FFA Career Development Events, and support from the Community College Alliance for Agriculture Advancement, students can explore a clear path from early exposure to advanced training.
Together, these efforts help students move from interest to action. By strengthening hands-on learning and career-focused education, Mid-State is preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders for careers in Wisconsin and beyond.
