Phlebotomy Technician

Technical Degree

Why Phlebotomy Technician?

Phlebotomy blends art and science to perform one of healthcare’s most essential procedures: drawing blood for testing, treatment, and transfusion. In this program, you’ll learn to ease patient concerns, select proper equipment, and perform blood draws with skill and confidence. You’ll also gain experience assisting patients after procedures and preparing specimens for analysis or donation.

At Mid-State, you’ll practice venipuncture, skin punctures, and arterial punctures while learning key laboratory processes such as specimen handling and processing. Students benefit from hands-on simulation experiences in the Healthcare Simulation Center that enhance and support their clinical training. The program includes a hands-on practicum at a regional healthcare facility and is one of the few in Wisconsin accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Graduates are prepared to take a voluntary national certification exam.
