Steamfitter and Steamfitter Service
Why Steamfitter and Steamfitter Service?
Steamfitters play a critical role in keeping industrial and commercial systems running smoothly by installing and maintaining the piping networks that support heating, cooling, and manufacturing operations. In this apprenticeship, you’ll gain the technical skills needed to work with complex pipe systems used in processing plants, mechanical facilities, and large-scale infrastructure.
How Apprenticeship Works
Registered Apprenticeships combine structured on-the-job training with related classroom instruction, giving you access to careers that typically require experience. To complete an apprenticeship, you’ll start by partnering with a sponsor who offers paid on-the-job training. Apprenticeships often take several years to complete and are based on hours earned on the job and in the classroom.
Apprenticeship Details
Take a closer look at what the Steamfitter and Steamfitter Service apprenticeship offers and what to expect.
Steamfitters work in industrial plants, chemical plants, refineries, power plants, waste water treatment plants, hospitals, and most other commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential buildings. The indoor or outdoor work requires strenuous physical stamina with walking, standing, climbing, lifting, and working in cramped spaces or in high areas. Steamfitters work in buildings, trenches, roofs, from scaffolding, on ladders, and inside tanks. Safety training reduces hazards from exposure to chemicals, gases, fumes, loud noise, and falls from ladders and scaffolds.
