Short-Term Cultural Experiences
Mid-State’s Short Term Cultural Experience trips offer short travel opportunities in the U.S. and abroad. Each option combines a one-credit course with a fun, immersive, and flexible trip with a small group of participants. The course is designed to prepare you for travel and help you get the most out of the experience.
These trips are open to existing Mid-State students and community members. Seats are limited. Register early to secure yours!
London
Explore one of the world’s most iconic cities—home to Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and centuries of rich history. You’ll tour royal landmarks, world-class museums, and even hidden underground corridors from World War II. Plus, enjoy time to shop, relax, and savor authentic fish and chips at a local pub.

New York City
Experience the nonstop energy of New York City—from its iconic skyline and world-famous landmarks to its diverse neighborhoods and rich history. Explore the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Times Square, and more while discovering how culture, immigration, and creativity have shaped this unforgettable city. With guided experiences and free time built in, you’ll see why New York truly never sleeps.

Japan
Discover Japan’s perfect mix of modern energy and timeless tradition in the cities of Osaka and Kyoto. Explore ancient temples, peaceful gardens, and neon-lit streets while learning about Japanese culture, food, and daily life. With expert guidance and time to explore on your own, this 11-day journey offers an unforgettable cultural adventure.

Short-Term Cultural Exchange
Germany
Take part in the Mid-State & Max-Eyth Schule International Student Exchange in Dreieich, near Frankfurt! This unique 10-day experience lets you live with a host family, attend classes, visit local businesses, and explore historic sights. No German required—just curiosity and an open mind. If selected, you’ll discover what it’s like to truly live and learn like a local in another country.
