CDL Class A Training

Customized Truck Driver Training for Your Workforce

Mid-State’s customized CDL Class A training is exclusively for incumbent workers. While we do not currently offer a public, open-enrollment CDL program, we partner with employers to create training that meets workforce needs.
This program equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to operate commercial motor vehicles safely and professionally.
Through hands-on learning, participants master:

  • safe driving techniques
  • inspections
  • turning
  • common and advanced backing maneuvers

Instruction also includes online coursework to provide a strong foundation in industry regulations, safety procedures, and professional expectations.

Steps to Complete the CDL Training Program

01
Complete the CDL Interest Form

Begin by submitting an interest form to start the enrollment process.

02
Provide proof of a Federal Medical (FedMed) Card

This is issued after completing a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical with a certified medical examiner. Instructions will be provided after your interest form submission.

03
Step 3: Complete a DOT Drug Screening

This can be done during your FedMed card appointment. Students must also pass pre-enrollment screening and may be subject to random, reasonable suspicion, or post-accident testing.

04
Obtain your Commercial Driver’s Learner’s Permit (CLP)

CLPs are available through the DMV. Study guides can be found online. Three tests are required for a Class A permit.

05

Once all prerequisites are met, Mid-State will schedule a pre-training assessment before final enrollment.

Complete the 16-hour self-paced online training component.

07
Begin Behind-the-Wheel Training
