Begin Your Health Career Journey in High School

Mid-State’s Health Career Academy helps high school students explore careers in healthcare while earning college credit.

In this one-semester program, Adams-Friendship High School students (grades 9–12) can complete the Healthcare Foundations certificate at no cost. Students can earn college credit by taking dual credit courses at their high school or enrolling in Start College Now courses at Mid-State. They also gain early exposure to health careers and begin building skills for future study or employment.

Through college courses and hands-on experiences, you’ll learn how healthcare teams work together to care for patients. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit departments and meet professionals at Emplify Health by Gundersen Friendship.

After completing the certificate, you can continue your education in Mid-State healthcare programs— Medical Assistant, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, and more. (Credits earned may also apply to other programs and pathways.)
