Mid-State’s Construction Trades Academy helps high school juniors and seniors start a career in the building trades while still in high school.
In this two-year program, students can complete the Construction Trades technical diploma before graduation—at no cost. Students can earn college credit by taking dual credit courses at their high school or enrolling in Start College Now courses at Mid-State.

You’ll build hands-on construction skills and a strong foundation to explore different career paths in the trades.
After completing the academy, you’ll have several great options to move forward. You may begin working as a construction laborer right away, or pursue a registered apprenticeships such as Carpenter, Construction Electrician (ABC or IBEW-NECA), Plumber, or Steamfitter/Steamfitter Service. Or, continue your education in a Mid-State degree program, such as HVAC Installer, HVAC-R Technician, Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician, Industrial Mechanical Technician, Precision Machining Technician, or Welding.
